10 MYTHS ABOUT BLACK WOMEN

1.BLACK WOMEN DON'T TAKE CARE OF THEIR BODIES
There is a generalization that they have no interest in eating right or going to the gym. We often hear about the research and studies that show how overweight black women are. However, recent studies show that more so now than ever black women have become more active and are prone to eating healthier.

2. BLACK WOMEN DON'T LIKE TO LISTEN TO THEIR MEN
Black women are raised to be strong minded. However, if they feel that he is responsible and they trust him, then they have no problem listening to their man. It is only when they do not trust him or his motives that their guards begin to rise and the trust vanishes.

3. THEY HAVE NO INTEREST OR URGE TO GET MARRIED
Despite the recent interest in successful black women being single and assumed to not have any interest in marriage, the truth is that many of them do want to be married one day. Just because a woman has high aspirations for her career does not mean that she does not still yearn for her soul mate.

4. THEIR HAIR DEFINES THEM
Yes, black women do love their hair. They enjoy how beautiful a new style makes them feel. What women doesn’t love a fresh salon look? However, some black women take it to the extreme when it comes to their hair. I could go on for days with this one, but I won't.

5. THEY DO NOT GET ALONG WITH OTHER WOMEN
This is a stereotype of all women. But it seems that black women are perceived to be more territorial, and are assumed to be always overly aggressive and angry.

6. BLACK WOMEN DO NOT LIKE TO PERFORM ORAL SEX
I believe this is an ancient myth nowadays. Any woman who is in love with her man will put forth the effort to please him as long as he is pleasing her. It is in a woman’s nature to want to keep her partner happy.

7. BLACK WOMEN LOVE TO ARGUE AND FIGHT
This goes back to slavery days when the black man would be punished for talking back to the master, while the black woman was given more rope. No pun intended. And still to this day they have to have the last word, and WILL fight if she has to.

8. BLACK WOMEN ARE GOLD DIGGERS
All women of every culture enjoy being cared for financially. Ladies how many times has a man looked just a little better driving that new Benz, with a pocket full of money and a celebrity status?  When every woman thought Wesley Snipes and Omar Epps were the finest brothas alive. Take them off of the tv screen and you wouldn't look twice.

9. BLACK WOMEN ARE ATTRACTED TO THE BAD BOY
Many find themselves attracted to the bad boy or the man who you KNOW is no damn good for you. Some women distance themselves from being attracted to the wrong type of man, who might not be as exciting, but probably will treat them a whole hell of a lot better than the bad boy.

10. THEY HATE TO SEE BLACK MEN WITH ANOTHER RACE
I don't know if it is deeply rooted in them, but when Derek walks in a room with Sally, you can cut the tension with a knife!  I have a lot of friends and family that date outside their race and know this one to be true. Especially if the man is attractive.

10 STEREOTYPES ABOUT BLACK MEN

1. ALL BLACK MEN ARE WELL ENDOWED 
It is recorded that a WHITE man from Brooklyn owns the worlds largest penis. I will survey 10 black women that will say that their current  or most recent partner is not very well endowed. So I pose the question; does size really matter?

2. THEY DON"T LIKE TO WORK
A man by nature wants to provide for his family. While Black men suffer from the highest rates of unemployment in America, it is not related to choice. Society says that the black male is "under qualified", and lacks the educational level to maintain decent employment. Now there are some that  don't want to work to avoid their paternal responsibilities, but even that exists with other races as well. "Not wanting to work" is a negative stereotype of black men that is certainly not true.

3. THE BEST IN BED
I think that might be a 50/50 call. Ladies weigh in, let me know.

4. GREAT ATHLETES
Some relate this to the whole genetic theory, dating back to slavery. Any major sporting event features an array of fit, testosterone-filled black men. But, ‘Look at them! Now look at your man! And back to them! Now look at your man!’..Lol. Although there have been alot of great black athletes in sports. ALL BLACK MEN ARE NOT ATHLETIC!!!

5. BLACK MEN ARE PLAYERS
Popular urban culture and Hollywood have perpetuated the myth of the black man as a player. This is in fact not true of only black men. All human beings must actively resist polygamy in their lives because of the pressures of evolution, which tell us to procreate with as many people as possible, and society dictates that we remain faithful to our chosen partner.

6. BLACK MEN LOVE WHITE WOMEN
This one depends largely on who you ask. Interracial marriage is on the rise in America and the perception that black men like white women may stem from the fact that it is becoming more socially acceptable and therefore more common. In the end, a man and a woman will be together for reasons of personal compatibility, not race.

7. BLACK MEN DON'T TAKE CARE OF THEIR CHILDREN
A GOOD black man will be a wonderful father to his children no matter what the circumstances. The trick is to avoid those who might take the easy way out of hard circumstances – of these there are plenty and they’re all shapes, sizes and colors.

8. HE'S BEEN IN JAIL

Videos, urban and pop cultures have played on this perception to the point that those who unfamiliar with black people maintain this crazy idea. Some black males wear a jail stint like a badge of honor in today's society. Therefore, the youth idolize this perception.

9. GOOD DANCERS
The only reason people become known for dancing well is that one good mover can overshadow the 5 others who just ran to the exit to avoid being pulled on the dance floor.

10. WIFE BEATERS (VIOLENT)
Thank Ike Turner for this stereotype. In fact, white males have the highest reports of domestic violence in America.
